Youth has Numbers: Speak reason through the ballot

Advocacy is driven by numbers, but numbers with no action wont fuel change.

Youths of Zimbabwe are in this predicament policy wise. Superficially peeking at the Zimbabwean political, economical and social fronts youths are just but silent and powerless partners in the whole Zimbabwean discourse. However, 2013 seems to over a better franchisement of the especially political arena.

Demographically youths enjoys 67% of the population, but were never taken seriously upon issues that affect them. The sudden rise of youth organisations, association was a major break through of the voices of youths.  The rise of the Zimbabwe Youth Council is just but a sign of the rising youth generation, in dying need to take charge of the development agenda of Zimbabwe.

Dramatic change has found ground in political parties as youths were the most dormant members. Today its different ZANU PF notes that it has registered about a million new voters. The MDC-T running a campaign on getting their members registered. The demands by youths from both MDC-T and ZANU PF for quota system on electoral positions hearing audience from previous anti-youths leaders. The aspiration by these youths to oust even prominent political gurus or cadres marks the beginning of the youth revolution in Zimbabwe through the electoral space.

It’s the highest and most convenient moment Zimbabwean youths shape the discourse of the country. However, what we need is a functionally literate youths who will cost the vote of reason than the bought vote. Youths need to go through the manifestos against realities than lured by promises of whims and fancies.

2013 youths should vow not to be used, because the youth-ignorant leaders has realised only today that we are the major stakeholders of any electoral outcome. It is this regard we need to negotiate by voting with reason. Belong to any party but vote with reason. Ina a football match when your team is the underdog u know that its likely to loose and you accept it. That is reason.

To all my fellow cdes
Our struggle is now
Our capacity to vote is our collateral
Our numbers is or strength
And this is our war
But we can only fight if we are registered to vote
So be the one
Who reason to take your fellow to register
Who reason to remind your fellow to vote
Who speaks reason through the ballot
Lets reason in peace
