What will you be remembered for? 20th Century Generation of #Zimbabwe

What are you going to be remembered for? Is one question people ignore. However the answer to the question begins when one identifies him or herself as a youth in Zimbabwean case. It is not a responds to the common definition of a leader but resonate well being a leader. At the #263YALI event SirNige articulated that if you are that person who when ZESA (electricty) goes you are the first to enquire with ZESA, with no doubt you are a leader. This fair description aligns itself not to the common leader of the Office but one who aspires to lead with no position. Bruce Wharton speaks of creating a base, having people to follow you and  believe in you.

Most of us have rushed towards positions of leadership, a contagious disease true leaders can forgo. It seems we want to be remembered as Secretary General, Coordinator, CEO to mention a few. The reality of the matter is that you will only be remembered as an office holder. Unless we question why we are where we are. Why you are the Coordinator? You are the Coordinator, so what. Let the rude so what ring the bell in our minds and souls.

Our generations stands the great trial of all, to be a wasted generation that wallowed in poverty due to underdevelopment and over-managed as Masimba Kuchera would reiterate now and over again. Will it stand to be the iconic generation that every future being would wish to be identified with, wish to have been part of such a generation. A generation which rose against all odds, as individuals, teams and multiplying as Zimbabwe’s Youth generation of all time with one voice for national development.

I saw such a generation in Egypt, all over Arab states.  A generation of young leaders not content to positions but to yield results to reach the destiny. I wish if these young people inspire us to find our way into the Zimbabwean crisis of functionally illiterate poor folks whose future is bleak. But bright if action is taken.

At one process I was asked this very same question. I said, I want to be remembered for empowering my wife and daughter as my contribution to women empowerment. I want to be remembered as that Human Rights Youth Activist from Masvingo.  The rest is up to the living to choose. I felt no need to mention I founded Real Agenda for Youth Transformation, any person not even leaders can do that.

I simply ask you the same question yesterday, today and  tomorrow. What will you be remembered for? 20th Century Generation of #Zimbabwe?

I hope the #263YALI and the #YALI will motivate us to have a answer we wont be ashamed of to share. I hope this goes to every person identified as youths willingly or not for the power and the future is ours.

Take Charge, dont let the next generation scold and laugh at you and me as non entities.

Thank you.
